Managing compliance in a construction HR department can feel like you’re trying to juggle while walking a tightrope. With so many documents to collect and store securely, there’s no room for mistakes. The stakes are high—fines, lawsuits, and even loss of employee trust are all on the line. Here are the six key compliance areas you need to keep an eye on:
 
Onboarding Documentation: The I-9 and W-4 forms are critical for verifying employment eligibility and ensuring tax information is accurate. Track those expiration dates and keep documents accessible for audits.OFCCP Compliance: If you’re working with government contracts over $10,000, you need to ensure there’s no discrimination and that you’re actively hiring veterans and individuals with disabilities.
 
EEO Compliance: Companies with 100+ employees (or smaller companies with government contracts) must file an EEO-1 report detailing workforce demographics. Keep in mind that California has additional pay data reporting requirements.
ACA 1094 Compliance: Employers with 50 or more full-time employees must provide affordable health coverage and file 1094 forms with the IRS. Use available safe harbors to meet affordability standards.
 
OSHA Compliance: Track work-related injuries or illnesses if you have 10 or more employees, and keep those records on hand for five years. Larger companies need to submit OSHA Form 300A electronically. 


MSHA Compliance: Regular safety training is a must for all miners. Track and manage training schedules to keep your workforce safe and compliant.
