Mistakes happen!  And when mistakes happen, it's always good to have a Safety Net.

Have you ever deleted a timecard batch by mistake?  Or maybe not the whole batch but lines within the batch?  Oops!  All the time entered into the Portal Batch is gone.  So what do you do?  Does everyone need to re-enter their time?  This could be a daunting task depending on how many employees and how much time has been entered.  Well let's face it, I don't think anyone enjoys recreating  a timecard!

You're in luck!  The Vista Employee Portal has a feature under Employee>Management called Safety Net.  The Safety Net allows a user to recover deleted timecard lines.  It is important to note that the  Timecard Safety Net is enabled by default.
Employee Portal, Employee, Management, Safety NetLet's take a look at how the Timecard Safety Net works.  The first step is to Prepare the Batch.  If the lines were removed from a batch that still exists, you can skip to below the last step in creating a batch.   If the entire batch was cleared and canceled, start with this Timecard Dashboard image to create a new batch.

Go to Timecard Dashboard in the portal.  Choose the correct Company and Pay Period.

Timecard DashboardClick on Open Portal Batch.  This creates the new batch.  Timecard DashboardNavigate to the the Timecard Safety Net which is under Employer>Management in the portal (as seen in the image above).  In order to use the Safety Net you must be logged into the portal as Timecard Admin or System Admin. Once at the Timecard Safety Net screen, choose the correct company, Batch From (select the batch ID you want to restore the lines from) and Batch To (select the batch ID you want to restore the lines to).  Note:  If you deleted just some of the lines from a batch and the original batch still exists, then the Batch From and Batch To will be the same.

Once the Batch From and Batch To are selected, all the deleted items in the selected Batch From will be visible in the grid.  Use the checkboxes to indicate which lines you want to restore, or you can select all lines with the top checkbox.  Click on the Restore Items button.  The restored lines are now back in Vista within the batch indicated in the Batch To field. They will no longer be visible in the grid.  Open up the batch in Vista and verify it.
Timecard Safety NetThis Safety Net feature is easy to use and will certainly be a lifesaver for many!
